I think he's a reasonable man, but he resets the "centre" further to the right. And his basic set of underpinning views are still conventionally of the right.

There shouldn't be more than one wingnut on the court, and now there are four. Kennedy's retirement decision was timed to help the GOP.

Some think justice Roberts will become the swing voter, and will try to help avoid the court looking too 'political'.
