Romans 6:1-5
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Folks,
This first verse does not mean that you have license to go out and sin willfully and abundantly. It does mean that ONCE you have asked Christ into your heart to be YOUR SAVIOR and LORD, that you should be led of the Holy Spirit, and that you should henceforth DIE to your old self that wants to do things that believers should never engage in. Salvation and eternal forgiveness are NOT licenses to willfully commit SIN. If someone is doing that, it is a good indicator that they were never Saved.
We should daily strive to be more like HIM and to do things that are pleasing in HIS sight and that HE may be pleased with us, our WORDS and our actions.
It isn;t only what we say that matters. It is what we do and those words that proceed from our lips regularly are a good indicator of WHAT IS HAPPENING, or HAPPENED on the inside of us. IF those Words and Actions are not lining up with what Jesus would be pleased with, then that is a strong indicator that Jesus is NOT residing in Your heart and is definitely NOT your LORD, much less your savior..
Take heed to these scriptures. They are very important and very telling but they are a GUIDE for us all until HE calls us home...
May GOD give you wisdom to understand what HE IS saying to US through HIS precious preserved WORDS that HE gave to US so that we may have instruction in righteousness..
