Psalms 71:16-19
I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!
This is a profound passage of scripture. Look at what David is saying about his life. In verse 16 he states that HE will "make mention", which means to TELL OTHERS, about The LORD's RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Question. Why not tell others about our own righteousness?
Answer: Because WE DO NOT HAVE ANY RIGHTEOUSNESS. WE ARE COVERED in HIS robes OF righteousness BECAUSE THE blood of Christ has washed us clean from our sins and HE has placed HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS UPON US. Hence, we are seen as SEEN as RIGHTEOUS by GOD THE FATHER because of God the SON...
Even when he is old and gray headed David declares that HE will be a witness and a testimony to others for the LORD and HIS strength and HIS mercy to those who belong to that present generation.
THAT is exactly what WE ARE TO DO TODAY. TELL others about the wondrous GRACE and Mercy of GOD this day unto all the generations that can hear us...
David set the example. He has exalted the Lord until the very day he left his body and was immediately in the presence of the ONE he loved so much, The Lord Jesus.
My heart's desire is to follow that example and praise HIM until I have no breath left.
My prayer is that this would also be your heart's desire.
