Socialism, if it means anything, dosn't solve problems. It creates different ones.
You don't make things better by swinging away from brutalist individuallism to forced cooperation. You want to create a structure in which voluntary cooperation is encouraged as far as possible.
Markets work better for many things. You need to regulate them some. But by and large, the profit motive is valuable.
Certain sorts of services are better done from the top down, but not many.
