Iran responds:

"COLOR US UNIMPRESSED: The world heard even harsher bluster a few months ago. And Iranians have heard them —albeit more civilized ones—for 40 yrs. We’ve been around for millennia & seen fall of empires, incl our own, which lasted more than the life of some countries. BE CAUTIOUS!"

For context, the Persians/Iranians invented the postal service, defeated (rich as) Croesus, fought Alexander the Great, enslaved the Roman Emperor Valerian and were defeated by Genghis Khan.

Trump is a nobody in the span of Persian history. America is a pipsqueak.

looks weak if they respond and he does nothing, and starts a war over more-or-less nothing if he decides he must back up his words at some point.

Of course, Iran might stay quiet. But it's useful to the mullahs to keep control of their country by making the US their enemy.

So as usual, Trump's temper doesn't help. And his exit from the Iran deal leaves him without an alliance to promote his position without using arms.
