Report: GOP Candidate’s Husband Spread Hate Theories Online

The husband of Arizona Senate GOP candidate and Trump ally Kelli Ward spread a series of right-wing conspiracy theories on Twitter, according to a Thursday report from CNN. Michael Ward, a political activist who has been heavily involved in his wife’s campaign, repeatedly spread allegations that murdered staffer Seth Rich was responsible for the Democratic National Committee email leak and that the Clintons killed their political enemies.

He also attacked Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), once his wife’s political opponent, by alleging that he “supports, funds, equips and trains #ISIS” and by calling him “a senior citizen masquerading as a competent Senator.” Ward also retweeted a picture of McCain that labeled him a “senile old fart.”

A spokesperson from Kelli Ward’s team did not deny that Ward tweeted the theories, but told CNN that “focusing on obscure details of Dr. Ward's social media activity rather than his impressive profile as a emergency physician and decorated 33-year Air Force veteran is ridiculous and shows exactly why the mainstream media is losing all credibility.” Ward is currently competing in Arizona’s August 28th GOP primary against Rep. Martha McSally (R-AZ) and notorious ex-sheriff Joe Arpaio, to determine who will face the likely democratic nominee Kyrsten Sinema.
