The US is getting closer to splitting up. There just isn't a coherent, single country any more.
Let the folks from Jesusland live in their walled-off, isolationist country with its friendships in places like North Korea, Saudi Arabia and Russia.
And let the west coast and the north east live in the multilateral world, perhaps as part of a Greater Canada, or as new and independent sovereign nations.
And do it peaceably. No point in having another civil war. The difference is mostly visible in geographic terms.
If people want to live differently, that ought to be fine. But it's a hopeless model if power alternates and everything one side does the other unpicks.
