Here are two replies to the article in the Washington Post wrt Harley Davidson. Notice how many thumbs up they got. These were just two of the several highlighted.
I’m posting this as a retired UAW member. I know the Harley production workers are unionized, not by my union, but by another. Traditionally, unions have predominately supported Democrats, given our ties go back to the 1930s when Roosevelt and the party of Roosevelt greatly supported union organizing in America and pro-labor legislation. Over the years, however, wedge issues, social issues and union success in obtaining good pay and benefits allowed many members to forget which party had enabled their economic strength. Even union leadership, still enraged over a single issue from the 1990s, NAFTA, seem to have forgotten the overall history of our Democratic ties and went so far as to support Trump. The NAFTA ship sailed long ago, but to hear the president of the UAW tell it, it is the biggest issue on the table and a good reason to support Trump.
So, today, Harley is moving production overseas, losing more jobs, union jobs, here in the states. This is certainly not the only instance where that has happened... so tell me, union members and union leaders who voted for Trump, is this the result you wanted? Is a tariff war, a trade war, good for you? Did supporting a Republican get you anything more than a one-time bonus, something that probably your union had already negotiated? Are you more secure?

Let me make sure I have this right, the President of the United States is working hard to take down Harley Davidson and save a Chinese telecom/espionage firm?
