I think csl must be indicating either that susceptibility to right wing propaganda is genetic or that his family's political culture is insular and moves along the spectrum between wingnut and authoritarian. Parents tend to dictate core beliefs in their children. And as with race, I have noticed that many people select for similarity in marriage. So it isn't all that surprising that many members of a family vote in similar ways.
Not knowing them, I have no comment to make upon their genius, individually. But it is a curious thing to expose them to the coconut shy. I shall pass on the opportunity and wish them all well. And I hope csl finds security and perhaps a means of extrapolation in surrounding himself with relatives who think similar thoughts.
But for me, this isn't persuasive if it is meant to suggest that Americans admire and want more of Trump.
And for myself, I shall continue to comment upon the dumb arguments Trump makes and to suggest that anyone who thinks they make sense must be ignorant and willing to turn a blind eye to evil. There were large numbers of folks who supported every arsehole in history. Including the leader of the Republican Party's favourite, Stalin, of course.
At any rate, Trump was unable to win a popular majority last time around and looks to be the same 5-10% behind now. Hopefully the new head of the FBI isn't going to gift the election to President Dunce for a second time.
The entire Republican intelligentsia has left the party, so it will be interesting to see what kind of arguments the dull rump can put together. Far right lies and assertions without substance clearly work when channelled through partisan media in the direction of people who are not curious about reality and who can't spot their own moral inconsistencies.
