Trump lawyers are making the argument that Trump is above the law. That he is immune from being asked to testify for any reason because to do so would shed a poor light on the office of the President (as if Trump hasn't already destroyed it) and besides, he doesn't have time to waste talking to Mueller and his people. They also claim that Trump can NOT be charged with obstruction of justice since the Justice Department reports to him, therefore, he can shut-down or curtail any investigation or judicial case the he wants to for whatever reason since he has the Constitutional right to do so without any interference by Congress or the Courts. He's basically declaring himself King.
