Also, make it VERY clear that high taxes aren't the business of government, nor are low taxes adequate for government, but a government needs sufficient taxes to perform the roles it does better than the market, which is to say the provision of common goods.
These sorts of things would encourage all reasonable people to jump on board. There are a bunch of rational, principled, incrementalist Republicans to be had and these folks can swing future elections, assuming the vote-counting is honest.
