Yes, it looks the same.

But it's different from the motive viewpoint. Obama backed down because he was bluffing. Trump backed down because he is corrupt.

Trump got his loan. Now he is easy-going and wants a constructive relationship with China.

He pulled the same trick on Qatar for his son-in-law.

He is trying the same sort of thing in Europe which has a stronger anti-bribe tradition (although the Germans have been up to naughty stuff re Russian gas).

This guy Trump is cancer to diplomacy, law and international fair-dealing. In this way, he's similar to Putin.

The last three presidents have all had massive weaknesses on foreign policy, in my opinion.

Steven Mnuchin, the Treasury secretary, said on Sunday that the two countries had made progress as they concluded two days of intense trade negotiations in Washington late last week. The planned tariffs â€” on Chinese steel and aluminum, as well as $150 billion worth of other Chinese goods â€” are off the table while the talks proceed, he said.

â€œWeâ€™re putting the trade war on hold,â€ Mr. Mnuchin said on â€œFox News Sunday.â€
