Aside from the fact this is bonkers.
Last I heard, the US wanted a level playing field for these bids. Now it wants to bully its way to an award. Heck, why not have the US win the tournament on the same grounds? They can play China in the final every four years. Japan and Germany will always make the semis, and always lose them. England, France, India and Brazil will always make the quarters but never go any further. Spain, Italy and Argentina will never make it past the group stage.
Fortunately for the UK, I think folks have finally figured the world cup isn't worth the headache. The Premier League is where the quality and the money is, which means the football facilities are now amazing compared to when I was a kid.
