EXCLUSIVE: Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein tells confidantes he is prepared to be fired by Trump
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has struck a stoic and righteous tone in private conversations this week about the fate of his job as President Donald Trump has publicly criticized him and is considering firing him, according to three sources who have spoken to Rosenstein.
In those conversations, he has repeated, "Here I stand," a reference to Martin Luther's quote, "Here I stand, I can do no other."
Rosenstein has also said privately that history will prove he did the right thing by writing the memo that led to the firing of James Comey as FBI director in May 2017, claiming that the American people do not have all the facts about what led to his decision to write the memo.
