I think it was that Obama wasn't Bush, who was a catastrophe of the torture variety. But I agree that Obama didn't deserve the Nobel for much of anything he did. His major achievement was getting Bin Laden. But otherwise on foreign policy I think he was a bluffer and a risk-avoider.
In a world of my retrospective imagination, I'd have split the second term of his presidency, with Romney being in charge of foreign policy.
Trump is an unpredictable bully who will damage relationships with America's friends and trading partners, will likely start unnecessary wars, but may have one or two successes if he can find a wimp among the population of dictators. How brave is Un? He's never been tested.
