I spent some time yesterday looking at handguns for home defense online.

There you can use the filter for HANDGUNS, and refine by CALIBER, which I would definitely look at 9mm for stopping power, and then by brand. Smith & Wesson and Ruger will not break the bank... I like S&W M&P 9 C and Ruger SR9E is very affordable and dependable.

THis is a sub $300.00 very well made home defense handgun that is a good starting point. I would recommend this to you as you are only wanting something to protect and defend your castle. THIS will do that dependably and well. Ruger has phenomenal customer service as well. They guarantee all their guns for life. I sent mine back because of a sticking clip issue. Free shipping to and from and they returned it in fine working order and ready to go. No charge.

I Like ALL of these. I own TWO of them and have fired about 1000 rounds thru each of them without a hiccup.

They are accurate and have a little weight to them, very solid slide construction and striker fired. Excellent firearms to have in your home for self defense.

BUY a couple extra Magazines in addition to the normal TWO that come with a handgun.

You can get one of these I am sure locally at a BASS PRO, Cabelas, DICKS, Or local firearms dealer....

Just remember to lock up the gun in your glove box and keep any ammo you get locked up separately in a different place, like your trunk. Separated.
