For Trump, Cambridge Analytica may be his get out of jail free card.

He doesn't need to have colluded with Putin over the election if he simply used the same software propaganda weapon. He's a dunce, not a software developer. I doubt he chose the "mindfuck" software his team employed.

Doesn't explain his attitude to Russia which may be related to transactions within the Trump Group.

However dreadful President Dunce is, he is supported by modern propaganda weapons of the sort Putin the Poisoner wields against his own electorate.

So there's still a chance he and his party will win in 2018 by careful targetting of aggrieved populations and the magnification of their grievances.

They have all been prepared to disbelieve the folks providing actual facts to support their arguments. It's all prejudices these days.
