Wrong. China doesn’t even figure on steel today. Canada is NO 1.

Your first link is about 2012.

Your second link has a graph that disputes what you wrongly claim, and puts a stamp on what I say.

Get with the times. Delusions are not allowed in this time and age, as uncle Wally has been given the wheel of a car with no brakes on a downhill.

Get with it.

As best I can tell, the United States imported some 27 million metric tons of steel (in 2017) and used about 97 million tons (in 2012). So, barring only errors due to the differing years of my data, something in the ballpark of 28% of our steel usage is imported - mostly from China.

The imported steel quantity seems quite significant to me.

Sources for those numbers:

"The United States consumed almost 97 million tonnes."

"The United States is the world’s largest steel importer. In year to date 2017 (through September), further referred to at YTD 2017, the U.S. imported 26.9 million metric tons of steel, an increase from 22.5 million metric tons in YTD 2016."
