You didn't provide a link - which makes it harder for me to challenge you. What I can say is that when you upgrade an AR-15 to a .308, it is no longer an AR-15. At that point, it's an AR-10.

As for shooting deer with an AR-15 in the calibre of .223, that's not legal in Virginia. Some states (with wimpy deer) allow it. (So I'm correcting my own mistake here.)
