OMG, you're right! Per Wikipedia, there hasn't been a fatal mass shooting since the 1996 Port Arthur massacre which killed 36! That year was an aberration... but still.

So you win the battle. You were actually right. But you are still wrong overall. Here's why:
From the same Wikipedia site, Australia had a total of 12 massacres, 71 dead, in the 21 years from 1974 to 1995. And it had 12 massacres, 76 dead, in the 21 years from 1997 to 2018.
That means there's been NO change in massacres. In fact, a few more people were slaughtered in the years after 1996 than in the years before. Australian murderers are now choosing different weapons, that's all.
If you look longer term, you can only conclude that the problem with massacres is GROWING. Rapidly accelerating. In the 350+ years before 1996, there were only 33 Australian massacres - an average of one massacre every 10 years. Since 1996, there's been a massacre every 1.75 years.
Banning guns has not helped.
Now let's pick a different country: GERMANY. German Jews lost their right to own guns in 1933. By 1945, 200,000 German Jews had died and another 300,000 had made the wise decision to flee the country.
Care to defend gun banishment in THAT scenario?
I didn't think so. You're a stupid, stupid woman.
