Yes, it does.
Thanks.
It's possible what I was thinking of was 'purged' . . .
Or it might have been on another board altogether. Seems
OCU and I have engaged in debate before . . .

Re: “Out of curiosity, De,
How does one search through all the message
bases for something that was said a long time ago?”

I don't don't do anything special - no Cold Fusion or anything like that, though there have been many occasions when I considered writing a cold fusion script to use here. (It's frustrating not being able to filter search results by user name.)

Use the "Search" function listed up top. If you click the "Whole Word only" checkbox, you can search for a phrase. Don't put it in quotes, and if underlining or other special codes were included in whatever you're hoping to find, you'll need to include those codes in your search.

If you search for something with a lot of matches, the results will be paginated and you'll need to wait between each page of results. It can take a while.

Searches are slow. If you search for a long string that is only rarely found, the search could leave you waiting for a minute or more as hundreds of thousands of posts are scanned.

The search will automatically search all message boards from the dawn of time, but will only return 20 or 30 matches per page. Click on < prev > and you can look back further in time for another 30 matches.

Does that answer your question?
