Poppy Harlow on CNN went back to voters in Kentucky a year later. Kentucky is dirt poor & voted heavily for Trump.
She asked them if their lives had changed since Trump was elected? 'No' for most, a few were having more difficulty, with low paying jobs & medical problems.
'Coal' hasn't saved them.
The 'new' business soon to open is a private prison, mostly due to drug abuses & problem from addiction. This will create jobs.
Poppy asked if they still supported Trump. Nearly all said yes.
She asked why? They said Trump sold them 'HOPE', and when you have nothing, hope is something.
Interesting, it helped me have some understanding, though I don't see how this helps, logically.
Maybe another year will break through their denial?
