yes we are both ignorant of the truth in the matter. perhaps an investigation may reveal the truth. but there is not sufficient time. also if he is never elected the truth will never be pursued. the objective of the hatchet job is then achieved regardless of the truth. The only choice is to ignore the allegation.

yes, but csl, you say it's a hatchet job, but you don't know he is innocent any more than others know he is guilty.

there's a question of what you do when you don't know. but in calling it a hatchet job, you must also assume the complainant is a liar. i don't know why you would have an opinion of that sort.

democracy is stuck in a quandary. criminal rules don't apply. a party can desire a candidate they know is not a paedophile rather than one who may be.

maybe the folks in his state need to rewrite their rules so a back-up candidate is permitted. for myself, i'd prefer a system in which folks have someone to vote for from their own side. so i'd be more than happy for moore to be replaced by another republican. but the rules are badly drawn.

the parties also may want to rewrite their rules so folks can be excluded from running under their flag.
