Hi csl,
I don't go for the political character assassination thing either. But it cuts both ways. You can't both call HRC Bill's enabler and come to a conversation about Thomas and Moore with clean hands.
This is why it is worth looking out for a larger pattern.
Harvey Weinstein sounds like a bad apple. I don't care what his politics is. Trump sounds similar. Bill Cosby also.
There are also victim liars out there. Frankly, I have no idea who is telling the truth when there are financial motives which can make lying profitable. Financial incentives reek as strongly as smoke.
With Moore, it's a grope 40 years ago, which isn't enough and isn't worth relitigating if that's all there is. Maybe she looked older. Who knows? If there's a pattern, that's a different thing.
People are making a to-do about the age difference. But there's an age of consent, not consent by age discrepancy. Anyone over it is disqualified from complaining about the differential in my book.
A crime such as rape is also in a different category. It is best to keep the extremes in a separate box. Folks who go over that line are criminals of a different order.
But the whole damn thing is out of control right now. People applying values of today against things that happened generations ago. Sexual harassment. Statues of confederates.
History isn't a bludgeon.
