You're right, but money is power. Government officials are, pretty much by default, power hungry. Good luck getting them to voluntarily give that up. It's not going to happen.
We also aren't going to see citizens who receive more from government than they pay in taxes vote to decrease government spending. These days, about half of all Americans pay nothing in taxes. clo, for instance: What do you think she pays in income taxes each year? I'm guessing nothing. Is it any wonder that she always votes for Democrats? They provide unending benefits to freeloaders like her.
I'd say the same for zzfart . . . but I'm pretty sure that he doesn't vote at all.
