Excellent post with the right reasons my friend...

Yes, you are right. I would be more than willing to show zz from Scripture how that even if his present circumstances are not that great, his eternal ones can be something to really look forward to. Beauty unimaginable and gold so pure it is crystal clear. The colors of heaven will be astounding to see also. Emerald Greens and Reds of Sardis stones just radiating all around with Pearl Gates on the walls of the City of the Saints, where Christ Himself is in the Center on HIS Throne where HE reigns forever with those who actually do love HIM and have accepted HIM and HIM alone for their eternal salvation.

My eyes are fixated on that eternal destination De. I actually LONG for it. Can't wait to see Jesus and HUG him. Bowing down before HIM as HE alone deserves to be praised and worshiped for eternity.

SO, there is ONE reason alone I would hang here and YOU sir have brought that reason to remembrance.

Thank You! Sometimes we fail to see the forest for the tree right in front of us....

SO, if ZZ would sincerely desire to have a changed eternal happiness and a new perspective on worldly things from changed spiritual eyes and mind, I would happily do my best to treat him no differently than any of the ones I have spent time doing the same thing with who were motorcycle club gang members on whose door I knocked unaware of who was inside.

After talking with the leader a couple minutes he asked me if I would share THE WORD with them and so I preached Christ, and His sacrifice for all of our sins that caused HIM to have to leave the Glory of Heaven, and the fellowship with His Father, and take on the form of human flesh and endure every PAIN, ache, feeling, emotion that we do, except HE never one time sinned.

He was indeed The SPOTLESS (SINLESS), PERFECT LAMB of GOD who willingly SACRIFICED HIMSELF on a Roman Cross and experienced the Pangs of death and rose again on the Third day according to the scriptures, and conquered SIN and DEATH for everyone who would believe in HIM.

This is why he is called The FIRSTBORN among many brethren. He is firstborn from the grave and to be resurrected. DEATH has no hold over those who trust Christ. We do not die and stay in the grave. We are immediately transported into HIS presence upon our last breath, a twinkling of an eye, and so shall we ever be with the Lord!

I am so unworthy to even talk about HIM. But I love to and I love this time of year as we draw near to the day we set aside in recognition of HIS COMING to this world the first time as a baby in a manger to become the only acceptable sacrifice that GOD would accept for payment in full for all of our sins.

The next time HIS feet touch this planet will be the second coming and that will mark the beginning of the Millennial Reign on earth for 1,000 years. WE shall rule and reign with HIM. The Marriage Supper of t he Lamb will take place also..

SO much to be excited about. To look forward to with JOY Unspeakable and full of Glory!!

Thanks again for reminding me that Christ died for ALL and we are commanded to tell everyone about HIM.

Go ye into ALL the WORLD and Proclaim the Gospel....

SOOOOOOoooooo, does ZZ want to learn of Spiritual things from one who teaches Theology, and Eschatology, and Soteriology, and Pneumatology?

I am here. If not, that's okay too.

Just let me know....

Re: “While your envisioned idea of trying to reach out to the mentally disabled was grand and possibly even worthy, what has your experience been????”

I know. And you are probably right.

Two behaviors that are characteristic of me are that I am always trying to help others, and, to my own detriment, I'm reluctant to give up on those who show little promise. Indeed, once people are adults, their personality disorders can rarely be fixed. That's been my experience, anyway. Still I try.

So, of those two traits, I consider the second a flaw. I'll work on that. But I refuse to see the first that way!

You should know. You do your best to help people spiritually every day. How often does it turn some poor, lost soul around? Probably not often, I bet. But maybe SOMETIMES, right? Maybe even ONCE? That's why it's worth continuing.

zz has surrounded himself by perversion, self-loathing and disease. How can he possibly break free of it if that's all he sees? I think that's why he's here. The man is not bright. He knows he's not bright. But he IS smart enough to know that his lifestyle stinks, and that part of the reason is the deviant mentality in NYC and in those he calls his friends. In our group, he sees something different.

You'll notice that zz *never* talks about his life. You and I do. We have things to be proud of, to take joy in. But not zz. The poor guy has got nothing but darkness and despair. I have compassion for people who are in that boat.

Part of it too, he needs to understand, is the decisions he has made and continues to make. So, I figured that I would pursue that with him and see if the man can be changed. Probably not, but maybe he will be that ONE person who can be turned around. Wouldn't THAT be amazing? Talk about turning around the life of one of the dregs of society! It would be cool.

In any event, it won't be a long-term investment for me. As I think you know, I'll be going away before much longer... physically, for certain, and virtually, most likely. At least, I don't think I'm going to have daily internet access once I move. (My wife thinks and hopes otherwise - until we move to the new property in a few more years, at which time we will just about certainly be cut off.)
