Ex-Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort and his longtime business associate Rick Gates were indicted by a federal grand jury on 12 charges, including conspiracy against the U.S., Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office announced Monday.

Other charges against Manafort and Gates include money laundering and being an unregistered foreign agent. The grand jury said Manafort enjoyed a "lavish lifestyle" spending millions of dollars from illegal lobbying work for Ukrainian leaders, without paying taxes on the money.
