The state income tax deduction is a HUGE subsidy given to blue states by the red states because, instead of either working to force their state governments to quit taxing and spending like drunken sailors on shore leave or sensibly moving to a more fiscally responsible state, the blue state residents want the red state residents to subsidize them and their profligate, Socialist state governments through an off-setting federal tax giveaway.
