Any bunch of American persons might feel the need to form into a
militia to defend these United States from existential threats, so
the Constitution was written to guarantee our rights to own and
maintain firearms so that, if necessary, we might do just that.
Nowhere in the Constitution does it say only the government may possess weaponry.
