Yes, The Second Amendment refers to a militia that might be needed to defend against threats to freedom as one example of why The Constitution enumerates and exalts each American citizen's inalienable right to own and bear firearms. Such a militia could easily be very much needed, today ... to help defend our Constitutional freedoms against foreign invaders ... and to defend our Constitutional freedoms from internal enemies who wish to unconstitutionally strip Americans of their inalienable rights and freedom through executive fiat, judicial activism, and threats of mob violence (i.e., members of the Democrat Party and its supporting cast of thugs in the BLM, Antifa, CAIR, SPLC, etc.). And since this is the modern era, in order to make sure that this militia waiting in the wings will be up-to-date and well-equipped, then all American citizens should be ready to serve by owning, maintaining, and being proficient with the most modern weaponry available.

The essential American soul is hard, isolate, stoic, and a killer. It has never yet melted. ~ D.H. Lawrence
