Solar . . . If put on rooftops with the idea of helping
to meet expensive peak demand needs might be cost
effective.

Solar for 'base load' never will be. Solar does not
make watts at night . . . nor does it make enough
watts on cloudy days. Meaning if one is going to make
solar a BIG part of the supply, one will also have to
have a big old gas turbine for those times the solar
doesn't make it. So, tell me, which is cheaper . . .
Solar Panels plus a big old gas turbine . . . Or just
the big old gas turbine.

Next problem. Where one erects enough solar panels
to make electricity, one can not grow food crops nor can
one grow trees to suck come of that 'evil carbon' back
out of the air.

I think we should have some solar - preferably on roof
tops. But it will never be reliable enough for 24/7
energy production.

What a shame that it doesn't work. Solar power costs more to produce than its results are worth.

When solar begins to work, no one will have to "sell" it. It will sell itself. Governments will not have to subsidize customers who buy it. Customers will buy it because it is cost effective to do so.

Solar power is still a pipe dream. There's no telling when it will become a viable alternative to fossil fuels. Those who think that day is today are morons.
