CNN: Videos Suggest Russia May Be Arming Taliban
The Russian government may be arming the Taliban in Afghanistan, according to a CNN report. New video footage seems to confirm previous accusations from Afghan and U.S. authorities who have claimed that Moscow is arming the group. U.S. officials first expressed concerns in April that the Kremlin was seeking to supply weaponry to Afghan insurgents. Two new videos show Kalashnikov variants, sniper rifles, and heavy machine guns. Two separate sets of Taliban reportedly said they obtained the weapons from Russian government sources.
