If only!
My own feeling is there's a useful place for a moderate Republican Party on the political spectrum.
Someone needs to oppose socialism, excessive spending and identity politics, and support entrepreneurs, robust markets, immigration control, strong defence, global power projection and cyclical deficit balance, and suchlike.
There's a bag of good ideas the right can lay claim to once it ditches the Ayn Rand puritanism and the plutocracy that grip it at the moment.
