So it isn't normal for a candidate's son, together with two other members of his campaign team, to meet with representatives of a foreign government to rake the dirt for bad news for your opponent.

And anyway, doesn't it just show that the Trump team was soliciting information from the Russian government, even if this contact didn't deliver what they were looking for?

We now know they were looking.

One other thing we have discovered. Jr is an arsehole.

Okay. Listening to this more closely, Jr is clearly trying to organise his explanation to minimise the damage.

He pretends he had no idea who the meeting was with or what it was about ahead of time and the other attendees knew nothing either, and they all forgot to disclose it. Why invite two other Trump team members to such a meeting? Why the collective amnesia, again?

They clearly discussed the cancellation of the Magnitsky Act. Just the sort of thing Putin wants to repeal. With an attorney wuth a Russian-sounding name: Natalia Veselnitskaya.

Certainly sounds like Jr has realised how bad it looks. He says he told the attorney Trump was a private citizen with no power. Sounds like a convenient explanation rather than a contemporaneous one. A 30 minute conversation involved more than a polite withdrawal.

And Sr immediately threw him under the bus. He knew nothing about it!
