When the Soviet thing collapsed it appeared that recognition of the economic contradictions of socialism were finally coming to the fore. Heilbroner fessed up to his error over generations and the sane heaved a sigh of relief. One maven wrote about THE END OF HISTORY, where arguments about the superiority of free markets were finally a simple given.
That's all down the memory hole, again being replaced with the evil bullshit the left specializes in. I recently watched a PBS special claiming Rock & Roll was what brought down the Evil Empire.
Ken Burns recently ran a hagiography about the Roosevelts and their ilk that utterly ignored evolved analysis of the actual consequences of their meddling.
My belief in the impossibility of grand conspiracies is wavering.
