Call it a religion and suddenly up is down and left is right.

But sharia isn't a religion as most define it. It's a legal/social model which competes with secular systems.

People have every right to oppose sharia without being labelled as anti-Islamic or racist in a sinister way.

A person can reasonably oppose sharia without being hateful to Moslems. I have nothing against a person worshipping who they wish. But why should anyone assign protections designed to protect faith to the much broader spheres of law and culture.

In this case, civil rights activists are choosing sides against freedom of speech, secular law and the Western culture whose higher ideals gave birth to the civil rights movement. And they are trying to close down the conversation by labelling those those they oppose.

Opposing sharia is a liberal position. Opposing a person who opposes sharia is a far right stance.

Since when was preventing a person from changing their religion a civil rights cause?

Or defining an inferior role for women in society?

Or punishing homosexuality?

Or turning secular law into a religious enterprise?

The righteous left has gone crazy.
