We live in the 45th California Congressional district and our US Representative is Republican Mimi Walters. Anyway, she has refused to hold town halls and only does teleconferences and then only a few since she was elected in 2014. So the people in her district decided to hold our own 'town hall' and invited her to attend. She refused, but they held the event anyway, in a local high school gym.

Well, about 600 or 700 people showed-up, which was a lot more than the organizers expected. There were four topics discussed; Education, Immigration, the Environment and Healthcare. For each session there was a local expert on the topic to answer questions. For each session, they would start out by playing an audio file of Ms. Walters describing her position. These audio files were taken from sources such as her campaign adverts, comments made in Congress or when being interviewed by the media. After the audio file was played, the local expert would make some comments on his or her position and how this compared to Ms. Walters' position. They would them open it up to questions from the floor.

The meeting lasted close to three hours and while the crowd was probably about 95% anti-Trump/Walters, there were a few vocal Trumpsters but they were drowned-out most of the time when they tried to say anything. They also used the Red card/Green card system to show your agreement (Green) or opposition (Red) to whatever topic or point was being made.

Here are a couple of photos that I took.

I suspect that this is going to be the theme when it comes to the campaigns against the Congressional Republicans come 2018.

Note that there were an addition number of people, about like what you see here, behind me sitting in the bleachers. BTW, this picture was taken about 15 minutes before the meeting actually started.
