Al Franken: ‘I Hate Ted Cruz’
“You have to understand that I like Ted Cruz probably more than my colleagues like Ted Cruz,” Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) told USA Today this week.
“And I hate Ted Cruz.”
While promoting his new book, sarcastically titled Al Franken: Giant of the Senate, the ex-SNL star-turned-senator revealed in an interview that an entire section will be dedicated to Cruz, whom he describes as “singularly dishonest” and “exceptionally smarmy.”
The book will reveal details of private conversations between the two senators—a move Franken says is excusable given how Cruz infamously divulged information from his own private chat with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. In one section, Franken recalled telling Cruz to his face that he is “full of shit” after trying to squash a pre-written joke written about the Texan Republican for a political luncheon.
