The pattern of obstruction goes back to Flynn's appointment as NSA Director.
Trump ignored the Acting AG's advice that he was compromised. Then looked for the Head of the FBI to compromise himself in relation to Flynn. Then fired the Head of the FBI with the Flynn investigation in mind. Then threatened him after he fired him if he revealed anything. Along the way, the White House has stonewalled all attempts to gather evidence about Flynn.
Consistent obstruction. Firing Comey becomes very clearly a piece in the pattern. Trump's replacement appointee is inevitably going to be part of the same pattern.
It is surely clear that Trump was in cahoots with Putin. He wouldn't need to obstruct an investigation that is going nowhere.
