HARRISBURG, Pa. —

Police have surrounded a home along the 13th Row of Hall Manor in Harrisburg.

A man has barricaded himself inside a home and has fired shots at police.

One officer was shot in the hand and taken to the hospital, emergency officials said. The officer's wounds are not believed to be life-threatening. The officer is believed to be a member of Harrisburg's CERT team.

More than 100 shots have been fired during the standoff, which started at about 3 p.m. The last shots fired were at about 9 p.m.

Police have the public housing community surrounded and the FBI is at the scene. Some homes in Hall Manor have been evacuated.

Police think a homicide suspect may be inside the residence.

Shots fired in Harrisburg standoff; FBI, SWAT on site

SWAT and the FBI are on the scene where a Harrisburg police officer was apparently shot when a standoff at Hall Manor escalated Monday night.

After police launched a flashbang into the apartment building where a man wanted by the U.S. Marshalls was holed up, several dozen shots were heard, as well as several loud bangs. Shortly after the first round of gunfire, police yelled for an ambulance and an officer was seen being put into the vehicle.

Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico said via Twitter that he is on the scene with the CRT team, and that the man is a homicide suspect from Philadlephia who is "firing at the team."

Marsico asked Hall Manor residents to go inside, but many choose to ignore him.

"We live in the 'hood," one woman said. "We don't worry about gunshots."

Police have been communicating with the man through a bullhorn. The suspect asked for cigarettes and to speak with his mother, who is on site. Police evacuated the building near Foose Elementary School at 15th and Sycamore streets after residents said they heard a shot fired around 4 p.m. Onlookers are being encouraged to leave the area as shots continue to ring out.

Police are trying to get the man to surrender, telling him to come outside. They repeated the order at 9:15 p.m., but the results were the same.

"You said you were going to come down," police told the suspect before the shooting began. "Now man up.

"I know you can hear me."

This story will be updated as information becomes available.

Realist - Everybody in America is soft, and hates conflict. The cure for this, both in politics and social life, is the same -- hardihood. Give them raw truth.
