The floor has finally been uncovered, and I think it looks pretty darned good.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

I told my builder today that my wife and I intend to move into the new house in MAY... that we'll need to be out of and sell the current house or risk running out of funds with which to pay him.

It's a white lie, but he doesn't need to know that. The truth is that it's getting harder to come up with LIQUID funds and I am concerned that the work has taken so long.

I told him to postpone or deprioritize non-essential work (screening in the front porch, the exterior boiler, some of the downstairs etc.) and focus on making the main floor habitable. Once we're there, we'll reassess the other projects.

I'm hoping this gives him a needed kick-in-the-pants.

Vanities are now in the three bathrooms. It continues to look to me like the inside is close to done. Bathrooms, electrical work (outlets, fans, lights - both indoor and out, wall switches) and plumbing are the remaining big jobs. Then there are small jobs: Room doors, cabinet doors, completing the tiling of the floor, installing wall tile, laying the basement wood stove's hearth, laying linoleum in the washer/dryer room and basement closets, installing the garage door, getting the propane set up for the oven. There are other tasks that are even lower priority.

That might sound like a lot, but contractors will be or have already been called in to do the electrical, plumbing, tiling, garage door and propane. Much of that work can be done simultaneously and should go quickly.
