it looks to me as if the Ukrainian army is on the verge of dividing up the part of the Russian army that emerged from Crimea and the part in Donbas.

I suppose if they split them, they'll bottle each of them up and then push them back towards the border and out of Ukraine with neither able to help the other.

That will put Crimea and Donbas in Ukrainian hands.

At some point, Russia will have to admit defeat. Sooner rather than later, hopefully.

Russia will need a new leader to clean up Putin's mess. But peace terms won't be pretty. Ukraine will demand massive reparations and guarantees that Russia won't place its army anywhere near the border.
