They can live with an unctuous creep like Pence. But they lose their seats with Trump in power.

There can be no doubt that a president can be indicted. It's the foundational premise of the law, inherited by the US from England. Rulers are subject to law. Or their neck and shoulders may soon be parted - per the English solution.

It's such a strange thing to see a Justice Department which doesn't know basic things like this. Read the Declaration of Independence. Apart from the poetic/ abstract bit at the beginning, most of it is about subjecting the sovereign to the rule of law. If the sovereign is a rogue, his authority may be revoked by any means. Trump is G3.

Another fundamental idea is that American colonists demanded the same rights and freedoms as Englishmen, but these, with an American flavour, were enshrined in the Bill of Rights for all to see.

If they want to discover it one step at a time, then test the idea that corruption in winning the presidency is an indictable offence. Of course it is. For Republicans and Democrats.
