If folks know their Magna Carta, upon which the US constitution relies, this is its fundamental presumption.

The rule of law is more fundamental even than the protections of the individual, such as habeas corpus, for how is a sovereign able to guarantee any protection if he is not subject to law himself.

If Trump isn't, or indictment is deferred, there's no constitution because the president is above the law.
