Hillary: Trump’s Family Separation Policy a ‘Moral Crisis’
Hillary Clinton on Monday blasted President Trump’s policy of separating families who cross the border as a “moral crisis.”
Speaking before the Women’s Forum of New York, the former Trump presidential rival criticized the White House for invoking religious text to defend its cruel policy, adding: “Those who selectively use the Bible to justify this cruelty are ignoring a central tenant of Christianity.”
She said the family separations are a “moral and humanitarian crisis” and that “every human being with a sense of compassion and decency should be outraged.”
The White House has thus far claimed that existing law, passed by Democrats, requires the family separations—a claim that Clinton called an “outright lie.” In reality, Trump’s own senior adviser Stephen Miller has taken credit for the separation policy, telling The New York Times it was a “simple decision” to institute it.
