OUTRAGEOUS

Black Candidate Campaigning in WI Has Police Called on Her

A black legislative candidate in Madison, Wisconsin, had the police called on her while she was out campaigning for votes.

Shelia Stubbs, who is on track to become the first black assemblywoman in the state’s 77th District, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Wednesday that she was confronted by Madison police officers while going door-to-door to speak with constituents. “I’d never encountered that before. I just felt like my heart was pulled out,” Stubbs said.

A resident of Madison’s west side had reportedly called 911 to report a “suspicious vehicle,” saying he believed the occupants were “waiting for drugs at the local drug house.” Stubbs’ 8-year-old daughter was accompanying her inside a vehicle as she campaigned, along with her 71-year-old mother. Stubbs provided campaign materials and spent about 30 minutes speaking to the police officer who responded before the matter was settled. Stubbs, who is running unopposed in the Nov. 6 general election and will be sworn in to the Assembly in January, reportedly offered to work with the officer to help improve race relations after the incident.

DISGRACED

Ex Chicago Cop Linked to Torture of 100+ Suspects Dies

Disgraced former Chicago Police Commander Jon Burge—who was accused of leading a group of rogue detectives who brutally tortured more than 100 suspects with cattle prods and guns—has died at age 70.

Burge’s crew of detectives was alleged to have predominantly targeted black men between 1972 to 1991, allegedly shocking them with cattle prods and pushing guns into their mouths.

Burge was never prosecuted for his crimes. He was fired in 1993 and sentenced to prison in 2011 for lying in a civil case about his actions, but it was too late to charge him criminally on the torture charges.

Three years ago, the City of Chicago paid out $5.5 million in reparations to 57 of Burge’s victims. Some reported estimates of the cost for all Burge-related cases are as high as $132 million. The cause of his death is unknown.

Riddle me this. If someone is lying (http://Dr.Ford )and they know that lying to the FBI is a crime, why would they be asking for an FBI investigation? If a sitting Federal Judge is accused of something he denies with his reputation at stake why wouldn’t he demand one?

Note that yesterday and today we're on the 'Big Island' of Hawaii and today is the first day of decent weather. It appears that the final dregs of tropical storm Olivia have passed over the islands.

Here's how it looked earlier today on the Kono Coast of the 'Big Island', your sort of quintessential image of what you expect Hawaii to look like:

Here's a shot of our cruise ship, NCL's 'Pride of America', anchored off of Kono. There are no shore facilities to handle a ship of this size and so we had to use tenders to to get to and from the ship to the dock:

We boarded our cruise ship yesterday afternoon and left Honolulu at about 7:00pm. It's now morning the sun has come up and we're about to dock in Maui where we'll there until tomorrow evening when we leave for the Big Island. We have excursions booked, one each day. Today we visit a Pineapple plantation. Tomorrow it's a general tour of the island.

This past Thursday we did an island tour of Oahu and while the weather was still shaky we didn't get too wet and were able to see a lot of the island. Friday we visited Pearl Harbor and that evening we were guests of my friend and his wife for dinner at the Waikiki Yacht Club as well as it being a great place to watch the regular Friday night fireworks display over Waikiki Beach.

I'll keep you all posted as we go on. I'm connected to the internet using my iPhone as a hotspot because cruise line charges $25/day/person for internet onboard the ship, but when we're close to an island we get pretty good cell-phone service.

Woman found dead the same day she was scheduled to appear in court with alleged abuser

By Alex Horton
September 19 at 2:19 PM

Navy Chief Petty Officer Andrea L. Washington was proud.

She received her senior enlisted rank just last week in a ceremony, Navy officials said, an important milestone of her 17-year career as a sailor. A family friend, Phantom McClendon, told First Coast News that the recognition meant a lot to her. Celebrations were planned.

But Washington, 37, had worrying troubles at home. She filed for a protective order, on Sept. 4, against a man she was in a relationship with and who lived with her, saying he assaulted her and threatened her with a gun, court documents say. The temporary order was approved a day later.

Washington and the man were scheduled to appear in court Monday morning for a permanent order.

He showed up, documents show, but she did not.

Washington was found dead late Monday evening, Lt. Cmdr. Courtney Hillson, a Navy spokeswoman, told The Washington Post on Wednesday.

It is not clear whether the man, 36, against whom Washington had a protective order, is a suspect or has been questioned by police. The Washington Post is not identifying him, and he could not be reached to comment.

Washington said the man became upset after she asked if he would help pay household bills, according to her statement. He “pushed me down to the floor, kicked me in my stomach, chased me to the bedroom and pulled a gun on me,” she said, according to Duvall County Court records obtained by The Post.

He kicked a hole in a door, destroyed her iPad, and took the keys to her car and mailbox, she said.

Local media outlets reported that Washington was a mother of three.

“She loved her boys. Her sons were her life,” McClendon told First Coast News. “Her heart was made of gold. She was the type of person that she would give you her last dollar and the shirt off her back if you needed it. And that’s just how she was.”

Washington’s career in the Navy, which began in the months before the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, included at least one deployment to sea. Her last posting was on the guided missile cruiser USS Hué City, the Navy said.

Cody Wilson, 3-D Printed Gun Advocate, Charged With Child Sexual Abuse

The far-right figure allegedly met a teen on SugarDaddyMeet.com, where he told her he was a ‘big deal.’
Kelly Weill
09.19.18 10:56 AM ET

The founder of a an alt-right crowdfunding site and a 3D-gun printing company was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a child.

Cody Wilson, 30, became a favorite in fringe circles after he started selling blueprints for 3D printed guns, and launched Hatreon, the now-defunct platform he billed as “the #1 funding platform for the Alt Right.” But Wilson also used the internet to meet an underage girl for sex, Austin, Texas police allege. Wilson is currently in Taiwan, where he skipped a return flight back to the U.S., police announced Wednesday evening.

Wilson allegedly used a sugar daddy dating site to contact the minor, whom police only describe as being younger than 17, KVUE first reported. The girl told police that Wilson, using an alias, played up his fame, telling her he was a “big deal.”

Later they allegedly started communicating via text message and he identified as Cody Wilson, the controversial gun mogul.

On August 15, Wilson met her in person, according to an arrest affidavit filed in the case. Surveillance footage shows them entering an Austin hotel, where Wilson allegedly sexually assaulted her and paid her $500.

He was charged with a second degree felony count of sexual assault in which the perpetrator “intentionally or knowingly causes the penetration of the anus or sexual organ of a child by any means.”

BREAKING: Kavanaugh accuser's schoolmate says she recalls hearing of alleged sex assault

A former schoolmate of Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser wrote a Facebook post saying she recalls hearing about the alleged assault involving Kavanaugh, though she says she has no first-hand information to corroborate the accuser’s claims.

“Christine Blasey Ford was a year or so behind me,” wrote the woman, Cristina Miranda King, who now works as a performing arts curator in Mexico City. “I did not know her personally but I remember her. This incident did happen.”

Ford, a research psychologist in Northern California, has accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her more than 30 years ago at a drunken high school party. He denies the allegation.

A series of new Reuters/Ipsos/University of Virginia Center for Politics polls found close races in the key Senate battlegrounds of Arizona, Florida, Nevada, and Texas.

The polls, conducted online in English from Sept. 5 to 17 with roughly 2,000 respondents per state (narrowed down to about 1,000 likely voters per state), found the following results for the Senate and gubernatorial races among likely voters in the five states surveyed:

Arizona Senate: Kyrsten Sinema (D) 47%, Martha McSally (R) 44%

Arizona Governor: Doug Ducey (R) 51%, David Garcia (D) 39%

California Senate: Dianne Feinstein (D) 44%, Kevin de León (D) 24%

California Governor: Gavin Newsom (D) 52%, John Cox (R) 40%

Florida Senate: Rick Scott (R) 46%, Bill Nelson (D) 45%

Florida Governor: Andrew Gillum (D) 50%, Ron DeSantis (R) 44%

Nevada Senate: Dean Heller (R) 46%, Jacky Rosen (D) 43%

Nevada Governor: Adam Laxalt (R) 43%, Steve Sisolak (D) 40%

Texas Senate: Beto O’Rourke (D) 47%, Ted Cruz (R) 45%

Texas Governor: Greg Abbott (R) 50%, Lupe Valdez (D) 41%

President Donald Trump’s approval rating among likely voters in each state is mixed at best, although perhaps unsurprisingly given how Democratic the state is, Trump’s approval is only very sharply negative in California:

Arizona: 45% approve-53% disapprove

California: 36%-63%

Florida: 47%-53%

Nevada: 49%-49%

Texas: 47%-53%

Full details, including toplines, tables, crosstabs, and methodological information, for all five of these polls are available at: http://www.ipsos.com/en-us/news-polls/election-data-CA-FL-TX-NV-AZ.

Trump slams Sessions; "I don't have an attorney general."

The president has long excoriated Sessions for his March2017 decision to recuse himself from the Russia collusion investigation. But on Tuesday he suggested he is frustrated by Sessions' performance on far more than that.

“I’m not happy at the border, I’m not happy with numerous things, not just this,” he said.

Trump suggested he had a personal blind spot when it came to nominating Sessions as the nation’s top law enforcement officer.

“I’m so sad over Jeff Sessions because he came to me. He was the first Senator that endorsed me. And he wanted to be Attorney General, and I didn’t see it,” he said.

“And then he went through the nominating process and he did very poorly. I mean, he was mixed up and confused, and people that worked with him for, you know, a long time in the Senate were not nice to him, but he was giving very confusing answers. Answers that should have been easily answered. And that was a rough time for him.”

Sessions recused himself under pressure from congressional Democrats, and after some Republicans said he should not take part in overseeing the Russian investigation at Justice. During his confirmation hearings, he failed to mention two meetings with Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak.

In announcing his recusal, Sessions said that he had consulted with Justice Department officials over the decision, and that he had not meant to mislead members of the Senate over the meetings.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein became the lead Justice official on the Russian investigation because of the Sessions recusal. Rosenstein also appointed special counsel Robert Mueller after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey in May 2017.

The president suggested Sessions' experience going through the nominating process in the Senate may have impacted his performance at attorney general.

“He gets in and probably because of the experience that he had going through the nominating when somebody asked him the first question about Hillary Clinton or something he said ‘I recuse myself, I recuse myself,’" Trump said.

“And now it turned out he didn’t have to recuse himself. Actually, the FBI reported shortly thereafter any reason for him to recuse himself. And it’s very sad what happened.”

The FBI in an early 2017 email to a Sessions aide, made public last December, concluded that Sessions did not need to reveal contacts with foreign government officials that were made in the course of his work as a senator.

“I recused myself not because of any asserted wrongdoing on my part during the campaign,” Sessions told the Senate Intelligence Committee last April. “But because a Department of Justice regulation, 28 CFR 45.2, required it.”

Trump’s broader criticisms of Sessions may be a surprise to some lawmakers and other observers given the attorney general’s efforts to impose tougher policies on immigration. Sessions has been credited in conservative quarters for his handling of policy issues even as he has been lambasted by some on the right over the Russian probe.

At the same time, speculation that Trump could decide to fire Sessions has been growing.

TERRIBLE
2 Detainees Dead in S.C. as Floodwaters Overwhelm Police Van

Authorities in South Carolina said two detainees were killed Tuesday night when a jail transport van was swept away by floodwaters. The Horry County Sheriff’s Office transportation vehicle was traveling on U.S. Route 76 near the Little Pee Dee River when it was overtaken.

Two Horry County Sheriff’s Office deputies in the vehicle managed to free themselves but were “unable to open the doors to reach the individuals inside the van,”
according to a statement from the Horry County Sheriff’s Office. Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson told the
Associated Press that the two victims were female, though they have not yet been identified. Local reports said the two women were mental-health patients being driven to a behavioral-health center.
State Law Enforcement Division agents are investigating the incident.

UNDER WRAPS
FBI, DOJ to Defy Trump and Redact Russia Documents: Report

The Department of Justice and the FBI will defy Donald Trump’s demand that secret documents from the Russia investigation be declassified and will redact the material, Bloomberg News reports. Citing three officials said to be familiar with the matter, the report says the documents are being reviewed and will be censored upon release.

Trump wants some information, such as text messages between officials on the investigation, to be declassified immediately—because he said he suspects it will reveal a bias against him. The agencies want to guard against revealing classified sources and methods, so they plan to redact the material. However, Trump has the power to override the agencies and declassify material on his own if he’s unsatisfied by the level of detail they provide.

When a citizen coming forward is threatened, along with family, by a crowd of vigilantes.

It doesn’t matter if she is telling of true events or not. This country was built and proudly asserts the rule of law.

What part of that do these assholes do not understand?
